House Rewiring

Old rubber and cloth cable replaced in stages, so you keep living in the house.

Staging the work

House Rewiring

If your house was wired before the late 1960s there's a good chance parts of it still run on rubber or cloth insulated cable. That insulation goes brittle, cracks, and eventually falls away from the conductor, which is how you get arcing inside a wall cavity.

A full rewire replaces every circuit from the board out. We stage it so you're never without power to the kitchen or bathroom for more than a day, and we work around your builder if a renovation is already underway.

This is the moment to think about what you actually want. Where the outlets should be, whether the lighting layout still suits how you use the rooms, data cabling, outdoor circuits. Rewiring twice is expensive.

Good questions

Rewiring questions.

A three bedroom single storey home is typically five to eight working days, depending on access and whether ceilings and walls are already open. You'll get a staged plan so you know which rooms are affected each day.

Almost always. We stage the work so the kitchen, bathroom and at least one living area stay live overnight. It's rare for a rewire to need the whole property de-energised for a full day.

No. Partial rewires are common, replacing the worst circuits now and the rest later. We'll tell you honestly which parts genuinely need doing and which can safely wait.
